What is it?
FamilyZone Home Visiting provides support and encouragement for parents and carers who are having difficulties caring for their children or are feeling lonely and isolated.
Volunteers build relationships with families needing support to help them become more involved in the community and access other available services and assistance.
Who is it for?
FamilyZone is for families who need support coping with caring for children.
If you would like the following, FamilyZone is for you:
- Someone to talk to about your child or children
- Someone to visit you regularly
- Someone to talk to about your feelings
- To learn new ways to manage money
- To learn to feel more confident
- To make more friends
The service is also for people who speak languages other than English.
How does it work?
A trained volunteer is matched to a family seeking support in their local community.
The volunteer visits the family home weekly and offers friendship, information and links to community services.
Who are the volunteers?
Our volunteers are people who enjoy working with parents or carers and their families.
We encourage people with diverse and valuable life skills developed as parents and carers to become volunteers in our program.
Our volunteers receive:
- training
- regular support
- travel reimbursement
- public liability insurance cover
- opportunities to meet new people and do rewarding work
