What do foster carers do ?
Foster carers are volunteers who play a highly valued and important role in our community, caring for children unable to live at home of all ages, backgrounds and family types.
By providing a temporary, stable and nurturing home foster carers can help a child feel safe and secure while they are separated from their parents.
It is important for foster carers to provide emotional support and care for a child's day to day needs and help a child communicate and behave in positive ways.
The length and type of care provided by a foster care depends on the needs of the child and the circumstances of their family.
Foster carers are supported by one of our caseworkers. Together, the carer and case worker form a caring team to plan for the child's development and monitor progress.
