LCC News April 2014 - Congrats to Peachey Place!
Congratulations to the Peachey Place Living Skills Centre
The Peachey Place Living Skills Centre team was recently named as a finalist for the Community Sector Award at the Governor's Multicultural Awards, just months after they won a Healthy Communities Award from Playford Alive in November.
The Governor's Multicultural Awards are designed to honour the diverse contributions that individuals and organisations make to the social harmony of South Australia.
With a large focus on the culturally diverse community surrounding Davoren Park, the Living Skills Centre helps people to gain additional skills to improve their quality of life. Since it's creation in 2011 with a small community garden, the Centre has grown to include a free financial counselling service, a Tool Library for residents to borrow gardening tools, and offers a variety of information sessions on topics like fire safety, Centrelink benefits, cooking healthy meals, successful budgeting and more. Due to changes in community health, the Peachey Place Living Skills Centre will be moving to a new spot this year but will continue to work with existing partners to build strong programs for those who rely on them most.
Thank you for your support
Thank you for your generous donations to our Lenten Appeal. With your gifts, we were able to provide over 700 Food Parcels+ throughout Lent. All incoming donations will continue to help those who visit us for emergency support in the next months.
