Emergency Relief provides support for low income households who are in an immediate need to overcome an 'unforseen' situation.
What we provide
We help low-income households within our local area by providing emergency relief in the form of financial and/or material assistance (including food, vouchers and bedding/linen), together with community information and/or referrals to other services.
Making an appointment
Appointments are made on a first come first served basis. To make an appointment either go to the Lutheran Community Care office in your area (metropolitan and regional service areas are listed below) or telephone at 9:00am for a same day appointment. (Contact details listed below.)
What you need to bring with you
It is important to bring the appropriate documentation to the appointment. This includes:
- A Centrelink Income Statement not more than two weeks old (LCC can, with your permission access an electronic copy)
- ID with your current address
- Some proof of how you have spent your money (receipts), bills (paid and unpaid)
- Police report (where necessary)
Please Note: In most situations Lutheran Community Care can provide assistance for households up to three (3) times in any 12 month period and once (1) in a Centrelink payment period.
(This does not automatically restart at the beginning of a calendar or financial year.)
An emergency relief Social Worker is available at our Blair Athol office to assist clients build long term solutions to their day to day struggles.

Emergency Relief Service: Monday to Friday 9.00am - 12.00pm
Emergency relief in the form of food, food vouchers, blankets and referrals to our financial counsellor, Money management Program or other community service is provided for those in receipt of a Centrelink benefit or low income and in immediate need.
