We are looking for a skilled and experienced community worker to establish a responsive support service for Aboriginal people visiting Adelaide from regional areas. The role will develop a regional network of Aboriginal Corporations and a series of service partnerships and account arrangements across metropolitan Adelaide.

Foster Care Case Worker

LCC Level 4 - Based in Glynde, Pasadena and Gawler

The Foster Care Case Worker is responsible for providing support and advocacy to the foster care family to achieve successful placements for the family and the children in care. Although the role is office based, travel for regular home visits with foster carers will be required.

Responsibilities

Working as part of a highly focused team with a central purpose, you will:

  • Provide support for approx. 16 active foster families through regular contact
  • Initiate foster care support groups
  • Plan and facilitate special events for the families
  • Undertake after-hours on-call rostered telephone support of foster carers
  • Conduct annual reviews
  • Maintain accurate case notes and data required for agency reporting purposes
  • Contribute to the planning/delivery of public information sessions
  • Assist with delivery of training to foster carers

To undertake this role you will possess the following:

  • Qualifications in social science or other relevant qualifications
  • Previous experience in case management particular in family environments
  • Knowledge and understanding of issues facing foster carers
  • Previous knowledge of the effects of trauma and abuse and behaviour management in children in care
  • High level of interpersonal and communications skills
  • Previous experience in working with aboriginal and non-English speaking migrants (highly advantageous)

You must also possess a current driver’s licence and/or be able to obtain and provide the following: current First Aid Certificate and Child Safe Environment Training Certificate.

Family Relationships Practitioner
